about
Relays are a new three-piece Aussie bogan punk/grunge band hailing from Dja Dja Wurrung country, better known as Bendigo. Drawing inspiration from iconic acts like Dead Kennedys , Wipers , and Cosmic Psychos.
Relays bring their own raw energy and unapologetic attitude to the Australian music scene. The trio comprises producer Shann Lions on guitar and vocals, Mik Weird on drums and vocals, and the sensational 22-year-old autistic wunderkind, Stanley Knife, on vocals and bass. Together, they form a sound that demands attention.
Despite their humble beginnings, Relays have made a significant impact as a band in their five months. With three digital singles released in 2024 alone, they’ve amassed over 18,000 combined plays on Spotify, all without any support other than the word of mouth generated by their blistering live performances in Melbourne, Beechworth, and their hometown of Bendigo. Recently, Relays completed their highly anticipated debut album at Head Gap Studio Preston, on Wurundjeri Country.
Produced by Shann Lions and written collectively by the band, the album is a raw and unfiltered snapshot of life in regional Australia. What sets Relays apart is their commitment to authenticity. Eschewing studio trickery, the band opted for a live recording approach, capturing their raw energy and chemistry on two-inch tape. As they gear up for the release of their debut album in the last quarter of 2024, Relays shows no signs of slowing down.
lyrics
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
I’m addicted to PCP, Government drones are spying on me, Elvis conspiracy in Meredith three triple three
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
A rotten banana, go tell your father
Aliens inside both lungs, x-rays hidden by Obama
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok to leave a baby in a hot car
